Grilled Italian Sausage and Portabellas with Creamy Bow Ties

A combination of appetizing favorites will make this Mueller's pasta dish summer comfort food for the entire family. The best part is, it will be on your table in about 30 minutes or less, saving time for more fun in the sun!

Ingredients

  • 12 oz. Mueller's Bow Ties
  • 3 portabella mushrooms, cleaned
  • 4 mild Italian sausage links
  • 1/4 cup olive oil, extra virgin
  • 2 tsp black pepper, divided
  • 2 cups Alfredo sauce, jarred
  • 3/4 cup Asiago cheese, freshly grated

Directions

  1. Cook Mueller's Bow Ties according to package directions, drain.
  2. To prepare for grilling, clean the portabellas, and lightly brush olive oil on both sides. Season with 1 tsp. black pepper. Preheat the grill to medium high heat. Place the sausage links and portabellas on the grill.
  3. Grill the mushrooms for about 2 minutes each side and remove from the heat. Slice. Grill the sausage links until cooked and evenly browned on all sides. Remove from the heat allow to rest 5 minutes before slicing. 
  4.  Mix the pasta with the prepared Alfredo cream sauce and the remaining cracked black pepper in a saucepan over medium heat. When warm add the portabellas and stir gently. Place on platter and top with sliced grilled Italian sausage. Garnish with freshly grated Asiago cheese and enjoy.
