Nana's Baked Ham and SwissPasta

A yummy baked pasta dish fit to feed a crowd!

Serves: 8
Ingredients
16 ounces Mueller's 100% Whole Grain Penne or Elbow Macaroni
2 cups diced ham
4 ounces shredded swiss cheese
1 cup milk
1 cup half-and-half
1 cup sour cream
3 green onions, chopped
1 whole roasted red pepper, diced (I use jarred roasted red peppers)
2 garlic cloves, finely minced
2 Tablespoons butter
2 Tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
Directions
- Cook penne until it just starts to get tender (about halfway) and drain; set aside
- Melt butter over medium heat and add green onion, garlic, and red pepper and cook for 2 minutes
- Add flour; stir well and and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes
- Add milk, half-and-half, and half of the shredded cheese
- Cook, stirring constantly over medium-high heat, until sauce becomes thick and bubbly
- Remove from heat; stir in sour cream until combined
- Add ham and pasta, stirring until pasta is coated with sauce
- Pour into a casserole or suitable baking dish
- Spread remaining cheese on top and bake and 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes, or until cheese starts to brown
