Baked Mostaccioli with Italian Sausage

Satisfying and flavorful, this cheesy pasta bake with Italian sausage will leave everyone wanting more.

Ingredients

16 ounces Mueller's® Mostaccioli

1 pound bulk mild Italian sausage

3/4 cup chopped onion

2 cloves garlic, chopped

2 (26 ounce) jars pasta sauce, any flavor

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided

Chopped parsley to garnish (optional)

Directions

1Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a 13 x 9-inch rectangular baking dish with nonstick spray.

2Cook and drain pasta according to package directions; drain and set aside.

3Meanwhile, in a deep skillet or large pot, cook sausage until browned, stirring frequently to break sausage into small pieces. Add onion and garlic, cook until tender, stirring occasionally.

4Add pasta sauce and Italian seasoning to pot. Bring to a boil; reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.

5In a large bowl, combine cooked Mostaccioli, sauce mixture, and 1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese. Transfer to baking dish, cover, and bake for 35 minutes, or until hot and bubbly.

6Uncover; top with remaining 1 1/2 cups cheese. Bake 8 minutes longer, or until internal temperature reaches 165°F.

7Garnish with parsley, if desired.

Cook’s Tip: Use spicy Italian sausage to dial up the flavor.
